Shingles vaccination

Professionally updated: January 15, 2026

At Doctors in Denmark, we offer the Zostavax vaccination, which is a vaccine against shingles, also known as herpes zoster. Shingles occurs when the virus that causes chickenpox reactivates in the body. It can lead to painful skin rashes and blisters, and the risk of developing shingles increases with age.

Shingles vaccine

The Zostavax vaccine helps reduce the risk of developing shingles and can also reduce the severity of the disease if it does occur. The vaccine is particularly recommended for older people as they are at a higher risk of getting shingles and experiencing complications from the disease.

The vaccination is typically recommended for people over 50 years of age, but the exact age and need may vary depending on individual health considerations. At Doctors in Denmark, we can advise you on when it is best for you to get the vaccine based on your health and risk profile.

If you want to protect yourself against shingles or have questions about the Zostavax vaccination, you are welcome to book an appointment with the doctor for more information and to get vaccinated. See all our vaccines here.
