Bleeding during intercourse
Professionally updated: March 12, 2026
Bleeding during intercourse, also known as contact bleeding, is a condition in which bleeding occurs from the vagina during or after intercourse. It can range from light spotting to more obvious bleeding.
For some women, it is a one-time occurrence, while for others it may be recurrent. Regardless of the extent, bleeding during intercourse should always be evaluated by a gynecologist to determine the cause.
At Lægerne Danmark, our gynecologists offer thorough examinations and individual counseling so that you can get clarity and the right treatment.
