Read more about your options for reimbursement for psychiatric assessment and treatment at Doctors Denmark if you switch to health insurance group 2.

Switch to health insurance group 2

Most Danes are affiliated with health insurance group 1. This gives you free access to your regular doctor via the yellow health card every time you need a consultation. What many people don't know is that there is an alternative - Health Insurance Group 2. This scheme allows you to go directly to specialist doctors without first getting a referral from your GP.

For patients seeking psychiatric assessment and treatment at Doctors Denmark, switching to health insurance group 2 can mean shorter waiting times and the possibility of reimbursement of costs for assessment and treatment. This page gives you an overview of how the scheme works and what you need to be aware of before you make your choice.

What is health insurance group 2?

In health insurance group 2, you can go directly to specialist doctors without first getting a referral from your own doctor. This provides more flexible and faster access to treatment, including psychiatric assessment and treatment at Doctors Denmark. However, you will still need a referral for physiotherapy, podiatry and psychology.

As a Group 2 patient, you pay part of the cost of consultations with both general practitioners and specialists yourself. However, you can receive reimbursement from the government according to the applicable tariffs, which can significantly reduce your total costs.

Reimbursement for assessment and treatment in psychiatry

If you are in health insurance group 2, you can apply for reimbursement of your expenses for psychiatric assessment and treatment from Doctors Denmark. Reimbursement is based on government rates and typically varies between 20-70% of the price, depending on the type of assessment or treatment.

It's important to know that the reimbursement is paid by your municipality's citizen service. You pay for the treatment yourself and then submit bills and receipts to the municipality for reimbursement.
